  One up - one down
You know it's in San Francisco, but Where? What street did this run on and when? What kind of Railroad was it?

Answer:
Shown above is the Telegraph Hill Funicular Railroad. Unlike San Francisco's present day cable cars these two cars, show at the passing loop, counterbalance each other so that when one is at the top, the other is at the bottom. This short funicular railway was located on Greenwich Street and ran from Powell Street to the Pioneer Park Observatory, which is now the location of Coit Tower.
It operated from June 1884 until sometime in 1886.

  Stadium
This was San Francisco's baseball stadium for many years. So do you know its name? Its locaton? When it was abandoned? The name of the team? Anything at all about it?

Answer:
This was Seals Stadium, located at 16th and Bryant Streets. Built in the 1930s, it was home to the San Francisco Seals baseball team.
In 1958, it became the temporary home of the San Francisco Giants until Candlestick Park was completed in 1960. The Giants home is now in the new PacBell Park where they opened their 2000 season.
The stadium was abandoned after the team moved to the "Stick," The site is now the location of a shopping center.

  Arches
Shown in this photo is one of a pair of arches that spanned the sidewalks on each side of a ten-block stretch of a very busy San Francisco Street.
Do you know the name of the street, the general location on that street, how long they were there and what year or years.

Answer to Arches.
The arches were located on Mission Street in San Francisco along what was known as the Miracle Mile (a stretch from about 16th to 24th Streets). They symbolized the Mission Period in California's history. The occasion was the celebraton of the Completion of the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge in 1939.
